About Me
Report
After receiving my J.D. in 1993.,
I began practicing litigation in New York City, where I amassed over a decade of experience conducting trials and appeals in a broad range of matrimonial and complex commercial matters.
While I enjoyed and appreciated the strengths of the judicial system, I also recognized its shortcomings in delivering meaningful and satisfying resolutions to conflicts.
I discovered mediation and collaborative law after my three daughters were born, after I had some time away from litigation.
Services

In each of the services I provide, I strive to help my clients not only to find solutions to their conflict, but to promote peaceful and lasting resolution.
The goal is not merely to win the day; but to do so without losing sight of what matters most to them.
Statements on this website are attorney advertising, they do not constitute legal advice or establish an attorney-client relationship.
Every legal matter is different.
The outcome of each legal case depends upon many factors, including the facts of the case, and no attorney can guarantee a positive result in any particular case.
Your Options
Report
If you are considering divorce, the most important thing you need to know is that how you choose to divorce can have a greater impact on your life and your family than just about any other choice you make.
For years, the knee-jerk advice given to people considering divorce was to call the toughest divorce lawyer they knew and heed their advice.
By doing so, they kick-started a process which pit them and their spouse against each other in fierce conflict.
I know, because for many years I was one of those lawyers leading my clients into that battle.
Litigation
Report
Litigation employs the adversarial method of dispute resolution.
The parties and their attorneys work in competition with each other to convince a third party (a judge or arbitrator) to see things their way.
The judge or arbitrator, and not the parties, decides how the dispute will be resolved.
But that may not necessarily mark the end of the litigation.
If either party disagrees with the outcome, they can enter into an appeal process where they ask a different judge to overturn the decision of the original judge or arbitrator.
Side-by-Side Comparison
Report
The parties and the mediator go beneath the positions to examine the underlying interests of the parties.
Parties seek solutions that "expand the pie" and meet the important interests of both parties.
The collaborative team helps the parties to truly understand and evaluate what matters most to them.
Professionals bring expertise to help identify creative options looking for win/win outcomes.
A neutral mediator works directly with the parties offering conflict management tools and providing information.
