He received his BS degree from Louisiana State University and his JD from Southern University School of Law in Baton Rouge, LA. Schuyler is the son of Mrs. Rebecca (Campbell) Marvin and the Late Second Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Charles A. "Corky" Marvin.

He has spent most of his professional career in the trenches as a prosecutor. Prior to his election as District Attorney, Schuyler served as an assistant district attorney prosecuting hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases. He obtained numerous convictions for murder, rape, armed robbery, narcotics dealing, domestic violence, child abuse, and molestation, and drunk driving.

In 1996, the Louisiana Legislature enacted Revised Statute 16:17, which created the position of Victim Assistance Coordinator within the office of the District Attorney.
With the creation of this position, victims have a professional in the DA's Office whose job it is to ensure that victims' rights are honored.
The coordinator is an advocate for the rights of victims both in.
The Child Support Division provides a full staff who work to interview, establish, and enforce child support obligations.

The Child Support Division provides a full staff who work to interview, establish, and enforce child support obligations.
The Child Support Office accepts walk-in interviews from 9:00 - 10:30am, or you can schedule an appointment.
You can call our office to request the application paperwork be mailed to you.
You may submit completed paperwork in person at our office or you can mail it back to us.
If you return the paperwork by mail an appointment will be scheduled and you will be notified by mail.
The Family Justice Center

The Family Justice Center oversees the coordination of services available to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and exploitation in Northwest Louisiana.
The Family Justice Center provides services to victims in the parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, Sabine, Red River and DeSoto.
The Center is endorsed by and receives referrals from law enforcement agencies and District Attorney's Offices in all of the parishes it provides services.
In 2003, during District Attorney J. Schuyler Marvin's first elected term as the District Attorney for the 26th Judicial District, the concept of the Family Justice Center for Northwest Louisiana grew out of the subcommittee of Faith-Based and Grass-Roots Advisory Committee.
