We represent clients in personal injury cases in Kirksville and also across the entire State of Missouri. We have represented clients in obtaining acquittal before a jury in misdemeanor + felony cases across northern Missouri. I was local counsel for employees of a North Missouri plant. Referred to as a "donning and doffing" claim, the employees were required to spend time before and after their shifts preparing for work without pay, which is illegal under Federal law.

After several years of litigation, the plant settled with the class for $4,500,000.00. My client was charged with Murder in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action as a result of a shooting in rural Scotland County, Missouri. Many of the facts were undisputed, with my client acknowledging that he shot the individual multiple times. The Farwell Law Firm LLC is located in Kirksville, Missouri and has served clients in over 30 counties throughout the state.

Personal Injury
Report
Once a case is settled, or judgment rendered, lien holding creditors must be paid from the funds you receive.
Fortunately, an experienced personal injury lawyer is typically able to negotiate reduced bills, or use Missouri statutes to reduce liens, including those from Medicaid and Medicare.
This is vital, and significant, for any person who has suffered a personal injury as it directly affects the amount of money the victim can retain after medical bills and other expenses have been paid.
Unfortunately, serious injuries or death can occur resulting in significant life changes, or death.
Bicycle Accidents
Report
Section 307.188 states that "every person riding a bicycle or motorized bicycle upon a street or highway shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle."
Cyclists and motorcyclists know they have the right to travel the highways, but also that they are not as visible as the standard automobile or truck.
I am a cyclist, and enjoy getting out on the road.
If you have ridden our local Missouri highways 11, 6, 3, etc. you understand the value of "environmental awareness."
Premise Liability
Report
Generally these cases arise as a result of an unsafe condition on real property.
These conditions come in the form of everything from improper maintenance and hidden dangers, to a failure to comply with building code requirements.
Property owners have certain duties mandated by local, state and federal laws.
While these laws vary, the basic underlying premise is similar regardless of where you live: property owners have an obligation to keep their land and the buildings on top of it safe for lawful visitors and those with business there.
Criminal Defense
Report
That is the first question that you should ask when you are charged with a crime.
Many attorneys hold themselves out as criminal defense attorneys representing people in felonies, misdemeanors, DWIs, etc. few actually have jury trials.
A few will point to that one case they tried, or talk about a case they "second chaired", (i.e., did not participate in the trial) then change the subject, and try to panic you into hiring them.
Many criminal defense lawyers are not comfortable in front of a jury, are not well versed in the procedural aspects of a case, and try to get their client to plea after "working" the case for a couple years - an expensive learning experience for any defendant.
