Ellis Law
After practicing law for more than 40 years we have the experience to help you with your legal needs. Whether you are facing the planning and decision-making steps of creating your own estate plan, or overwhelmed with the thought of going through complex court proceedings in a family matter, we are a small law firm and focus on bringing you the personal service that you deserve.

We understand that often attorney fees make legal counsel unaffordable for families. Our fees are significantly lower than others because our overhead is low. Because of that we are able to offer free consultations. At the end of your consultation, we will form a plan, and tell you the cost of our services, and you will be able to decide if we are the right firm for you.

We are highly experienced in all areas of family law, guiding our clients though all their needs, and keeping their interest at heart. We commit to provide the same degree of focus to every client.
Services
Estate Planning
Report
In a world of constant change, two things are certain.
Death and Taxes.
With proper estate planning we can help you provide for your loved ones after your death, and minimize dreaded estate taxes.
There are many things that family and friends are confronted with at the death of a loved one.
Organizing and distributing the loved one's assets can be one of the most time consuming and expensive tasks put on those left behind.
Preparing for these hard times is a very important step we can take now in order to help our loved ones when we pass on.
Trusts
Report
Have you heard others talk about the importance of having a trust?
Have you heard that only the "rich" need a trust?
Have you ever been confused about the difference between a will and a trust?
You are not alone.
In the State of Utah, if your estate totals more than $100,000 or if you own real estate at your passing, your estate will need to go through the public probate process.
Having a properly created and funded trust can avoid the publicity of probate while creating an efficient path to distributing your estate to your intended beneficiaries.
Adoptions
Report
If you've never adopted before, it can be hard to know where to start.
Because the process can seem so overwhelming, especially those who aren't as experienced with the adoption process as others, it's important to start with the basics and work your way up from there.
Before you can even begin the process, you must first understand how the process works and what you need, want, and expect from this experience.
This includes knowing the type of adoption you want, how to interact with biological parents and adoption professionals, and the adoption eligibility requirements.
Probate
Report
If you have recently lost a loved one the last thing that you are looking to do is go to court.
However, in many situations a person dies without having an estate plan, or with an estate plan that leaves more questions than answers.
In those situations the Probate Court is the only option to get the estate completely resolved.
Often Probate can be handled without any conflict.
It is typical for the court to issue the order regarding probate without any need for a trial.
Making sure that you are following the necessary laws and procedures is often the most difficult part of a probate proceeding.
Guardianship
Report
Have you taken on the role of caring for a loved one?
Have you encountered obstacles in getting them the care or funding they need because you're not authorized to speak on their behalf?
Has your loved one entered into a bad agreement because they couldn't understand the agreement?
Being appointed by the court as a Guardian or Conservator gives you the legal rights to make decisions on your loved one's behalf.
This would allow you to talk to their bank, doctor, and even Social Security under the court's approval.
