Stacey T. Garcia received her undergraduate degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1992 double majoring in Literature and Creative Writing, receiving a Bachelor of Arts.
Afterward, Stacey served as a substitute school teacher in her home state of Idaho, and took some time to travel.
She began pursuing her law degree in 1995 and received her Juris Doctorate from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1998 (the school has since merged with another law school and is now Mitchell Hamline School of Law).
